OCT - EU Forums

The sixth OCT-EU Forum took place from 26 to 29 November 2007 in Bruxelles, Belgium. More than 100 participants attended the Forum. All sixteen inhabited OCT’s were represented, as were the four related Member States Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, representatives from various services of the European Commission (DG DEV, AIDCO, DG ENV and TAXUD).

The seventh OCT-EU Forum took place from November 25 - 28th 2008 at the Cayman Islands, who had the OCT-presidency in 2008. All sixteen inhabited OCTs were represented along with the four related Member States Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom as well as representatives from various services of the European Commission. It was decided that a professionel OLT bureau should be established in order to better coordinate and draw use of the possibilities that the OCT-EU partnership agreement gives.

The eight OCT-EU Forum was held in Bruxelles, Belgium from March 23- 26th 2009. All inhabited OCTs and their Member States were represented together with representatives from the European Commission. At this Forum the parties discussed the future relations between the OCTs and the EU as well as OCTAs POlitical Declaration.

The ninth OCT-EU Forum took place in New Caledonia, from February 28th to March 4th 2011. All inhabited OCTs sent representatives and so did the Member States and the European Commission. The subjects debated at this Forum was among several; Join Position Paper and the EDF.

The tenth OCT-EU Forum took place in Bruxelles, Belgium from January 23rd - 26th 2012. All OCTs sent representatives and so didi the Member States and the European Commission. The Danish Foreign Minister Villy Søvndal represented Denmark.

At the Ministerial, Greenland took over the Chairmanship from Montserrat - during its 2012 OCT Chairmanship Greenland wants to focus on Green Growth: OCT Chairmanship Program (Danish and English) - Premier Kuupik Kleist's Incoming Chair Speech.
