Seminar on Greenland and the Arctic
On the 29th of October 2009 the Greenland Representation to the EU held a seminar on Greenlands Approach to the EU's Arctic Communication. The keynote address was delivered by Premier Mr. Kuupik Kleist and the European Commission was represented by Director Mr. Reinhard Priebe of the DG for Fisheries and Maritime affairs.
The seminar on Greenland and the Arctic, "Greenland’s approach to EU’s Arctic Communication", was held on the 29th of October 2009 at the Renaissance Hotel Brussels.
The speakers and presentations were as follows:
Premier Mr. Kuupik Kleist: Self Governance and Greenland comments and priorities for EUs engagement in the Arctic.
Mr. Ole Spiermann, Professor of International Law – University of Copenhagen: The right of self determination of the People of Greenland under international law.
Ms. Tove Søvndahl Pedersen, Head of Greenland Representation in Copenhagen: The relevance of EU policies on indigenous peoples in EC cooperation with Greenland and the Arctic.
European Commission, Director Reinhard Priebe, Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries : EUs’ Arctic Communication; a status from communication to policy.
Mr. Hans Kristian Olsen, CEO of Nunaoil A/S: The search for oil and gas offshore Greenland, who and how is the oil and gas sector involved in developing this?
