The Partnership Agreement 2007-2012

Highlighted in the Joint Declaration of the Partnership Agreement is the objective to strengthen and widen the relationship and cooperation between the EU and Greenland on different areas ranging from research, sustainable development over industry and education and training and on a long term perspective.

In June, 2006 the Partnership Agreement between the parties was ratified and entered into force January 1, 2007. The focal point of the Partnership Agreement period 2007-2012 is education and training in order to develop this specific sector with regards to a sustainable human development in an era of globalisation. The agreement gives Greenland 25 mio. euros yearly for this purpose and Greenland has in this respect developed a “Greenland Programming Document” setting up overall and specific objectives and indicators to reach within the period.
